Years before meeting, both Sam and Nick felt burnt out and were simply exhausted from the daily grind. They both found themselves in office jobs they really weren't suited to simply because they followed the path they were 'supposed to.'
Everyone around them seemed to be so "in it" and disinterested in finding a way out of it..
But both Sam and Nick were frustrated and the motivation to make change was too strong to dismiss. They wanted to do something fun... They wanted to create a world where they wouldn't feel bound to the system, could travel frequently, and would feel like they're living on their own terms.
After exploring various entrepreneurial options, they both became inspired by the freedom and fun lifestyle they could see the mobile catering business model presented. After careful consideration, they decided to have a crack.
Still yet to meet, Sam and Nick both began building their businesses.
While we'd love to say they hit the ground running, that wasn't quite the case 😅
Sam over ordered 500 avocados for his first event.. Nick sold 15 cups of juice.
The first year of business was rough and they both considered changing direction several times.
But they didn't... They both kept persevering.
The thought of going back to 'the system' kept them hustling.
Mutliple vehicles, millions of dollars and hundreds of employees later...
Sam and Nick gradually got to know each other after trading side by side at various major events.
They both operated at a high level that not many others had been able to reach, so naturally got chatting about business and eventually became close mates.
At the time, Nick lived on the Victorian Surf Coast and Sam lived in Byron Bay where he ran his cafe alongside his event catering business.
Nick would sometimes send his team to large events local to Byron and Sam would help him out with equipment or vehicles.
Similarly, Sam's team based in Melbourne would run into Nick at events he would attend down there.
Sam and Nick launched Food Truck Coach because food trucks don't come with a 'how to run a business' manual.
They realised how many people struggle to build a truly successful mobile catering business.. They wanted to change that reality and create a simple, painless process for someone to launch, grow and scale to levels they did.
They love the business model and everything it's provided for them. Not just because of the freedom and flexibility it's given them, but also for the inner fulfilment that's come from operating the business and living the experience.
